We talked about drinking fresh celery juice on one of our videos, but some of you wanted more info on this so-called miracle juice. Read below to see what we found.

a glass of celery juice a day significantly improves health
Celery Juice is a Game Changer

The celery juice trend gained attention when the book Medical Medium by Anthony William’s came out. Williams believes that celery has restorative and healing properties. People online have claimed it has helped IBS, migraines, adrenal fatigue, asthma, sinusitis, and more. Mr. William's website, www.medicalmedium.com, boasts that it fights autoimmune disease, helps restore adrenals, kills Epstein-Barr & Shingles viruses and flushes toxins out of the liver among other claims. Since we are all about doing what we can to help rid our body of toxins, we figured it was worth a try.

“ Celery is full of vitamins that help our bodies produce collagen and therefore can help in maintaining younger looking skin.”

Why Celery Juice Is Anti-Aging?

Celery has powerful antioxidants to remove free radicals from the body. In addition to potentially decreasing the risk of getting cancer & other diseases, the phytonutrient content of celery juice helps our bodies stop free radicals from destroying the DNA of our body cells. Two bioactive phytochemical in celery, polyacetylene and luteolin, provide it’s anti-inflammatory properties ie. anti-aging.

Celery is very dense in micronutrients. It is packed with vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, folate, manganese, calcium, riboflavin, magnesium, and vitamin B6 – all of which are nutrients that our bodies need in order to function. The is high in calcium, silicon, and Vitamin K, drinking celery juice may also strengthen bones. Its high magnesium content may also help with individuals suffering from insomnia.

What We Experienced

Two of the main physical things we noticed was less bloating and clearer skin. This was after drinking fresh celery juice for about a week.

Celery juice contains enzymes that improve digestion by increasing stomach acid. If you drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach it will set you up for improved digestion for the rest of the day. The high amount of natural sodium (not the bad kind) can help you absorb the nutrients in the foods you eat as well. These salts also help our liver’s ability to produce bile, which we need to break down fats.

Celery juice is an effective natural diuretic and reduces bloated abdomens and edema, too. With stomach acid raised and digestion improved, the decrease in that puffy-stomach look was noticeable. It should also be noted that since digestion accounts for up 15% of your body's energy needs, the easier it is to digest, the more energy you’ll have through out the day.

Celery has a high percentage of water and electrolytes, so it can improve overall hydration. The antioxidants in celery can help purify our skin and help it become clearer especially if you suffer from cystic acne. It is also full of vitamins that help our bodies produce collagen and therefore can help in maintaining younger looking skin. Drinking celery juice daily may also help with healthy hair growth and who doesn’t want healthy hair?

The Verdict

Yes, we think the benefits of drinking celery juice are legit. You could also eat celery but honestly, it's a lot of celery to consume in a day and therefore more efficient to drink in juice form.

With all of this being said, it is important to point out that there have yet to be any clinical trials or large human studies testing the effects of celery juice to treat/manage chronic conditions. This is not surprising since medical studies are usually funded by the people who stand to make money ie. drug companies, and natural remedies would be considered competition. So please don’t let that deter you from incorporating fresh celery juice into your healthy eating plan.
